i think you pretty much summed it up:PI'm getting old so this is what I can remember..
The frame has a different rake to it.
The wheels are mags not wire.
The front mag was a larger size diameter. 19" ??
The rear mag was smaller diameter.16" ??
It came with bigger sized white lettered GOODYEAR tires.
It comes with dual front disc brakes and a rear disc
brake.
The fenders are different/ smaller.
The tank is smaller.
The headlight and gauges housings are chrome not painted.
It does NOT have healight "ears"/ mounts like a standard KZ. It uses a mounting system more behind the headlight.
The front turn signals are rubber mounted to the LTD handlebars, and are also a front running light. And not mounted to the headlight as the KZ is.
The exhaust system is a "custom" one by Jardine.A four into two system.
The handlebars are more of a "pullback" aka "LTD" bars.
It comes with shorter mirrors aka "LTD" mirrors.
The seat is a as you called it "two tiered" aka "LTD" seat. Thus allowing a flat footed seating for people of shorter height. It also helps for to keep you on the bike after that handfull of cc of Kawasaki starts moving. P.S. don't Armor All it too much ...
The rear grab bar is different from the standard KZ. As it it taller to match the LTD seat.
They came with a "custom" paint job and decals.
I'm sure I've missed something
I've owned a 900 LTD, three LTD's.
So I know something about them. And my present 900 Z1 has been changed to look like the LTDs.
Oh !!! LTD stands for LimiTeD as they ( Kawasaki ) only had plans on making a VERY Limited amount of them in . But they sold like hotcakes.
Someone will correct me I'm sure but I would guess Kawasaki made 15-20 standard KZ for every LTD. And the LTD was put together in the good ol' U.S. of A.

Post edited by: patmann, at: /03/23 11:56KingChe are exported all over the world and different industries with quality first. [original in upper case]CHAPTER SEVENTHE KZ900-BI LTD: STARTING FRAME NO: KZ900B- ONWARDSIT HAD BECOME INCREASINGLY OBVIOUS TO KAWASAKI IN AMERICA THAT MOST OWNERS WERE NOT QUITE HAPPY WITH THEIR STANDARD Z1 AND A WHOLE NEW BUSINESS HAD BEGUN SUPPLYING CUSTOM AFTER MARKET PARTS FOR THE Z-RANGE.KAWASAKI AMERICA, NOT TO BE OUTDONE, DECIDED TO PRODUCE A LIMITED EDITION 900 TO SATISFY THERE CUSTOMERS NEEDS.KAWASAKI AMERICA EXECUTIVE WAYNE MOULTON THOUGHT THAT THEY COULD PERHAPS PERSUADE SOME OF THE DIE HARD HARLEY RIDERS AWAY FROM THEIR "CHOPPERS" ON TO A "RICE BURNER" WITHOUT LOSING THEIR STREET CRED.! THE RESULTING KZ900-B1 LTD WAS THE FIRST FOR A JAPANESE COMPANY AND STARTED THE BALL ROLLING FOR ALL THE MAJOR MANUFACTURERS TO PRODUCE A CUSTOM TYPE BIKE.THE IDEA WAS SIMPLE. A STANDARD BIKE WAS STRIPPED ON THE PRODUCTION LINE AND FITTED WITH ALL THE BOLT ON TRICK BITS THAT OWNERS WOULD NORMALLY FIT AFTERWARDS. A LIMITED RUN OF JUST BIKES WERE BUILT AND THE DEMAND FOR THEM PROVED OVER WHELMING. KAWASAKI WERE ONCE AGAIN ON TO A WINNER.THE 900 LTD WAS OFTEN IMITATED BUT NEVER EQUALLED. EVEN KAWASAKI WENT ON TO PRODUCE A 250, 305, 400, 440, 550, 650, 750, , AND CC VERSIONS OF THE FAMOUS "LTD" RANGE. KZ900-B1 LTDFRAME NUMBER: Z1F- >ENGINE NUMBER: Z1E- >COLOUR: CLASSIC REDThis was the first Japanese custom cruiser. Assembled in the states in limited numbers for the disconcerting motorcyclist. An abundance of chrome and bolt on goodies made this Kawasaki a 'RICE BURNER WITH ATTITUDE'. The rear wheel was a fat sixteen-inch item.My brand new KZ900 LTD came with a personalized official certificate of authenticity (it's filed around here somewhere) and a personalized metal i.d. plate believed intended for application to top of fuel tank.Good Fortune!
