Ease of installation:

Compared to painting a car, wrapping a vehicle is a quicker turnaround time, a simpler process, and relatively easier to learn. Paint jobs require more prep time and take weeks, whereas car wraps can be done in a few days. However, we still suggest hiring a professional if you do not plan to research tutorial videos, blogs, and car wrap training classes to teach you how to wrap effectively.

Removable:

Unlike permanently changing your vehicle with paint, you can remove your car wrap. Whether your vinyl wrap is damaged, past life-span, or you just want to change your vehicle's style up, you can remove the wrap without damaging the paint.

Metro Restyling is all about style. It's important to know what finish your vinyl wrap has, so you know what effect it gives off. You can choose from many vinyl wrap finishes, each offering unique benefits and styles. Wraps come in various finishes, including gloss, satin, matte, chrome, and neon.

  • Gloss Vinyl Wraps: Gloss wraps offer a shiny finish that will catch the eye of anyone who sees your vehicle. This is one of the most popular finishes because it goes great with any color.
  • Satin Vinyl Wraps: Often described as an egg-shell feel and look, satin wraps give off a more subtle sheen for those looking for a less flashy, but sleek style.
  • Matte Vinyl Wraps: If you want a new-age, modern style, check out Matte vinyl wraps. Matte wraps offer a flat, non-reflective finish for those seeking a simpler, sleek style.
  • Chrome Vinyl Wraps: The chrome finish gives off a regal, polished allure with its shiny, mirror-like shine. Many go with the chrome finish for their vehicle because of its beauty, color vibrancy, and shine that can be seen from miles.
  • Fluorescent Vinyl Wraps: Prepare to be seen wherever you go with Fluorescent wraps. These wraps are super bright, and maintain their brightness even at night!

In addition to the various finishes and colors available for car wraps, there are also different types of wrap materials. Cast vinyl wraps offer a smoother finish and are more conformable, making them perfect for covering curves and contours on your vehicle. Calendared vinyl wraps work well for flat surfaces or applications that do not require much contouring because they are less stretchy and less likely to tear.

Need help selecting car wrap material/lam

I only make indoor graphics, murals/decals and was approached by a neighboring car wrapping business asking if I can print car wraps for them.

They wrap expensive cars ie rolls royce, Bentley etc and "pop trunk" type cars mostly with color change vinyl but are looking to do more regular cars and business vehicles with printed wrap. They are outsourcing the printing, someplace online they found but would rather work with someone next door.

I told them Ill do some research on materials as they do not know anything about the printed/laminated wrap materials, their current supplier just asks them "3m" or "Avery" and they prefer the Avery, they are trying to find out the specific material/lam

I'm clueless about car wrap materials but with some research it looks like it is between:

3MIJ180 and Avery , only problem is both are out of stock at fellers and fellers is recommending ORAJET as an alternative

The rough price they said they are paying is $ for 25yd x 60" of printed/laminated wrap, which seems doable with the above materials.

What are some good printed wrap/lam combos with average quality, not looking for the cheapest but also don't need the most expensive stuff.

Will be printing on Roland SG2s.

Another thing Ill have to figure out is lamination, I only have a CWT flatbed laminator but can purchase a roll to roll laminator. How much material will I waste learning how to laminate if I buy a laminator?

I have a friend will a roll to roll that I'll use on the first few wraps if the CWT doesn't work out (works good with 3-4 mil laminates but not sure it'll work with the thin stuff)

Any advice is appreciated, I'm using this opportunity to learn something new
